What we collect, why, who else sees it and how long we keep it. Asking for quotes means telling several moving companies where you live and what you own, so this says exactly who learns what, and when.

The quote form asks for the move and then for you:
We need this to give you a quote at all: without the addresses and the date there is nothing to price, and without a way to reach you there is nowhere to send the quotes.
A request that has been checked goes to the moving companies whose service area covers your pick-up address. At that point each of them sees the move as described above. Your name and your telephone number are not part of what they see.
When you accept a quote, that one company is given your name and telephone number, because it now has a move to arrange with you. The companies you did not accept are told the move has gone and learn nothing further.
You can write to a company through the site before deciding. Those messages go to that company, and what you put in one is up to you.
The contact form asks for your name, your email address and your message, and we keep them for as long as it takes to deal with what you wrote and to follow up on it.
A moving company that applies to join gives us its company name, contact name, email address, telephone number, business address and coordinates, its service radius, and its VAT number and commercial register entry where it has them. We use them to check the company is real, to decide which requests to show it, and to run the account.
After a move you may be asked to review the company that did it. If you write one, the score, the text and the display name you choose are published on the site once we have read them. A first name and an initial is plenty, and what you put in that field is what the public sees. Publishing it rests on your consent, which you can withdraw by writing to us.
Running the site means other companies process some of this on our behalf, each under a contract that limits them to doing so on our instructions:
Google may process data outside Switzerland. Where it does, recognised standard contractual safeguards apply to the transfer.
This site sets two cookies of its own: one holding your session, which is what remembers a half-filled form and keeps you signed in, and one carrying the token that protects forms against being submitted from somewhere else. Both are necessary for the site to work, neither follows you anywhere, and there is nothing to consent to because neither is used to watch what you do.
reCAPTCHA and Google Maps are Google's, and neither loads until you use what it is there for — a form, or the address field. Reading a page without touching either sends Google nothing at all. When one of them does load, Google receives your IP address and information about your browser, and may store or read information on your device.
If you are signed in to Google, your browser sends Google the cookies it already holds. Those are Google's own, set when you signed in to Google, and not set by this site.
There is no advertising on this site, no analytics, and no third-party tracking.
Under Swiss data protection law you can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, to have it corrected, to have it deleted, and to object to how we use it, in each case within what the law allows. Where something rests on your consent, such as a review, you can withdraw that consent at any time, which does not affect what was done before you did.
Write to support@umzigo.com and we will deal with it. If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC).
